….aka: Mystery Critters on my Sweater.
HOW CAN I GET RID OF THEM?
Fuzz Balls really known as “Pilling” is caused by short or broken fibers on the surface of the fabric getting tangled together and forming a ball commomly referred to as a “PILL”. This happens from abrasion against objects and itself during normal use and wear. The most common places for piling to show up are around arm pits, the sleeves and sweater front .
HOW CAN I MINIMIZE IT?
1- Turn the garment inside out before washing.
2- Wash using a shorter cycle.
3- Remove it from the dryer promptly when moisture is gone.
Even if you are cautious and follow our hints you still might see some FUZZ BALLS.
Here’s a few suggestions that might seem scary at first but do truly work.
1- Lay the sweater on a hard flat surface. Using a disposable razor gently shave the sweater
taking care not to dig into the garment and cause a hole. As an alternative you might want to try a sweater stone.
2- Electric Pill Removers
While they are a bit fancier it’s no better than good old fashioned elbow grease. Of course
once you’ve removed the pils they are likely to return. Being gentle with your sweater by
not washing too often can help you keep your sweater fresh looking all the time.
